  • International Women's Day

date posted: Wednesday 25 Apr 2012
As we arrived at the Barry Memorial Hall we were welcomed by a variety of stall advertising different movements to do with women’s actions e.g. The South Wales Police Museum, Atal y Fro and Careers Wales. After a while we were lead to our seats to listen to the guest speakers. First of all we heard from Philippa Davies. The main theme was defining moments and the importance of finding your key motivators. She also underlined how important it is to enjoy what you do. Then we heard a speech from the Deputy Head Constable, Colette Paul. She was trying to inspire us to be brave and to stand up for what we believe is right. We had a small interval to enjoy the attractive refreshments on display.

The event re-started to the sound of Annette Chinn’s voice, she has specialised in enterprise and business. The main points of her speech were the importance of preparation and to leave your ideal situation in order to develop personally. The last speaker of the day was Lt. Col. Caroline Whittaker and her story was an inspiration to us all, as having left school with no qualifications she has still managed to succeed. On the whole we had an inspirational day in Barry Memorial Hall and we hope to be invited again next year.
