  • South Wales Spelling Bee

    The 4 winners of the Year 7 French Spelling Bee competition from Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg went to Ysgol Bryn Gwyn in Llanelli on Wednesday 25th April to compete in the South Wales regional final. Brennig Davies, Elin Alexander, Manon Wiliam and Beth Humphreys all did superbly on the day. Brennig came 1st and Beth came 4th in the competition and both will now go on to compete in the Welsh Final of the 2012 Spelling Bee Competition to be held later this term. We wish them both the very bext of luck for the final!
  • UKMT Challenge

    On Thursday, 2nd of February the Year 11 Set 1 Mathematics Class took part in the UKMT – UK Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. The challenge is set by the School of Mathematics at Leeds University and this year over 3000 schools across Britain took part in the challenge.

    Four pupils came to the top of the class during the challenge. Michael Scannell, Harri Williams and Elis Jackson all won the bronze award and Ronan Scott achieved the silver award as well as winning the ‘Best in School’ Prize.

    Miss Phillips presented the four of them with certificates. Da iawn fechgyn!
  • School Eco Committee

    The Eco Committee meets every Friday. So far this year the pupils have completed a Winter Term audit and are hoping to complete the Spring Term audit before the end of term. The results are displayed on the Eco School notice board. The notice board advertises to pupils, teachers and visitors to the School all of the School’s Eco activities as well as the whole School Eco Code.
  • Fair Trade Fortnight 2012

    The School has been taking part in numerous activities to raise awareness about Fair Trade during Fair Trade fortnight 2012.

    Members of the Sixth Form Eco Committee having been leading activities and competitions using Fair Trade produce. They have also given pupils the opportunity to try Fair Trade bananas and chocolate for free during lunch and break times.

    The Fair Trade shop has been a huge success with all the Fair Trade chocolate selling out before the end of the first week. The Sixth Form Eco committee and the year 10 Welsh BAC class ran the shop every break and lunch time throughout Fair Trade Fortnight.
  • Fire Fighter

    Trent-Elliott Rees, Yr 11 has completed a two-year fire fighting course in just 12 months. He has been taking part in weekly workshops at Roath Fire Station in order to gain his Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Award in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community. They completed drills and were given a chance to use some of the equipment. Trent decided that he would like to join the Fire Service after helping to deal with a blaze in his own home when he was 14.
