Entry Requirements
Ideally you will have already studied music at GCSE level, but this is not an essential requirement; your ability to perform to a high standard however is expected. Your acceptance on the course will be based on an audition or your performance standard at GCSE level.
What is the content of the course?
The aim of the course is to:
- Encourage you to develop solo and group performing skills as well as presentation skills when analysing pieces of popular music.
- Help you to organise and plan extended solo and group performances.
- Encourage you to improve your team- work skills when choosing appropriate solo and group repertoire
What is the structure of the course?
You will study 6 units over the two years:
- Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble
- Solo Music Performance Skills
- Music Performance Session Styles
- Pop Music in Practice
- Music Performance Techniques
- Music Project
During the course you will have the opportunity to improve your listening skills, work as a member of a band, learn to use sound equipment and organise, plan and perform in gigs.
Assessment
The course is assessed through coursework format (100%). Each unit will require the completion of all performance and coursework tasks (equivalent to 1 A level in UCAS points)
