We can offer you an exciting opportunity to develop hand skills and basic maintenance techniques in both mechanical and electrical industries.
The course includes hands on activities working within purpose built workshops, with industrial equipment.
Workshop activities may include:
- Working with hand tools
- Producing components
- Using different materials
- Building and testing electrical lighting circuits
- Building and testing electrical power circuits
- Building and testing basic electronic circuits
- Using computer simulation
The skills that learners will develop through this course are relevant to all progression routes and occupational areas within the fields of Plumbing, Electrical Installation and Engineering. This qualification forms an important part of the practical content of many full time courses post 16, including Engineering First Diploma and National Certificate and many Plumbing courses.
This course is predominantly workshop based. Therefore for safety reasons personal protective clothing may be required – including steel toe cap boots and overalls. Approximate cost: £40

Every student that studies a course in Barry College will also study BTEC Applied Science.
